I used a
fiberglass garden rake handle from Fleet Farm.  The bottom is a crutch
tip cut down a little and glued to a wood dowel that slides inside the
rake handle.  Also, instead of the loop of coax as a Balun I used a
couple of ferrite beads on the coax between the BNC chassis mount
connector and the antenna.
