Spring Activities with the WVRA

Well the weather has finally changed! Goodbye Winter! I think the kids have a term for seeing an old hag leave, but I’ll leave that to the imagination. With spring’s arrival, the WVRA will be bustling with activity. Get your WVRA Calendars ready, because it’s going to be exciting!

On Saturday, May 7th, we’ll be supporting the Wausau MS Walk. Setup will be at the Central Wisconsin Convention & Expo Center. Jack N9LIA is handling all the arrangements. Please reach out to him with questions. We still need a couple more volunteers to pull this event off!

Get your number two pencils ready the following Saturday – we’ll be holding a VE session at Rasmussen College on Saturday, May 14th. Q&A session at 9am, testing begins at 10am. So hurry up and study! Reminder, the question pool for the Amateur Extra exam changes on July 1st, 2016, so this will be one of your last chances to test under the current question pool.

June will be here soon, and so will be Field Day! We’ll be operating June 25th and 26th and will have more details in the upcoming weeks. We will also have another VE session and the usual “rousing” discussions!

We’ll also be busy in July with the Wausau Balloon Fest on July 9th and 10th. We also are looking into setting up a special event HF station with QSO cards to commemorate the event. And we will be having our club summer picnic on Tuesday, July 19th.

Please mark your calendars for these events (If you bought a WVRA calendar, they’re probably already their hihi!). It’s always great to be working together for these great local causes and events.

In other news, please make sure to send congratulations to two of our own – Wendy KC9VIO and Bob WB9RND will be exchanging QSO matrimony cards this weekend! Unfortunately Ham Radio Outlet does not have a bridal registry, but please reach out to them and send your well wishes!

As always, I’m always open to questions and suggestions – please reach me at KD9CJX@gmail.com for the quickest response!

Hope to hear you on the air!
